Sky Bet EFL Championship predictions

Bristol Rovers v Barnsley

Kick-off: 5:30pm (GMT) Saturday 4 May 2019

Venue: Memorial Stadium, Bristol

Barnsley can play with ultimate freedom in this game, they are definitely going to be playing in the championship next season which is a great achievement with automatic promotion secured in the week.

But what may work for them is the fact that they are playing away from home with the title still to play for, if they don’t win the title I cant see them losing much sleep over it given the fact promotion is secured combined with the fact that just 4 games ago they were 8 points behind Luton and now its just goal difference.

Playing away against a Bristol Rovers side who themselves have secured league 1 status and avoided relegation should give them the freedom and expression to ensure 3 points. We are not saying that Luton will slip up against Oxford, but we certainly don’t think Barnsley will slip up here.

Result prediction: Barnsley away win (Best odds: 8/13 with MoPlay)

Correct score prediction: 0-2 (Best odds: 7/1 with SportNation)

Wycombe v Fleetwood

Kick-off: 5:30pm (GMT) Saturday 4 May 2019

Venue: Adams Park Stadium, High Wycombe

Wycombe are as good as safe, it would take a massive goal swing AND Wimbledon, southend & Plymouth ALL to win for them to go down. Given they are a newly promoted team they would have taken that all day long at the start of the season.

They come up against a Fleetwood side who have probably had their “cup final” in the week by playing and beating Sunderland.

We just feel there might be a bit of a hangover on the back of that game and given the fact that Wycombe can in reality secure survival whilst being at no risk of getting relegated, they should be in a very good place for this game.

Result prediction: Wycombe home win (Best odds: 23/20 with Coral)

Correct score prediction: 1-0 (Best odds: 13/2 with SportNation)

Sky Bet EFL League 2 predictions

Swindon v Notts County

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 4 May 2019

Venue: County Ground, Swindon

Notts County will take an army of travelling fans to Wiltshire for this game which sees them chasing an unlikely survival as a football league outfit. However, they have things going in their favour.

Swindon have not only had a really disappointing season, this will be their lowest finishing position in well over 25 years, but they have also gone on their summer holidays early, they have lost their last 2 and haven’t won in their last 6.

Notts County on the other hand have done pretty well to just still be fighting given they have spent most of 2019 at the bottom of the table. A win may not be enough for them, but we think they will do all they can.

Result prediction: Notts County away win (Best odds: 6/4 with 888 Sport)

Correct score prediction: 0-1 (Best odds: 41/4 with SportNation)

MK Dons v Mansfield

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 4 May 2019

Venue: Stadium MK, Milton Keynes

WHAT A MATCH… yes you have read that right, arguably the fixture of the weekend! Its quite simple, their is 1 automatic promotion place up for grabs and only 2 teams have a chance of getting it…. and yes you’ve guessed it, on the last game of the season those 2 teams are playing each other. In truth, that’s the reason we are including it and you can make a case for any result here, neither team have actually won in their last 2 games so neither are going into it with much form.

We are going on the theory that Mansfield can afford a draw for promotion so can attempt to control the game, which being away from home may actually be easier to do. We are even going to go as far as back a 1-1 draw here, Mansfield to take the lead, MK dons to equalise in the second half and then apply non stop pressure for the last 10 minutes… But Mansfield to hold on…. and when absolutely none of that happens, we will see you here again for more EFL predictions in August!

Result prediction: Draw (Best odds: 5/2 with William Hill)

Correct score prediction: 1-1 (Best odds: 11/2 with Boylesports)
