Premier League 2018/19 gameweek 5: predictions and accumulator tips of the week

Best Free Bet Scout assesses gameweek 5 of the Premier League and picks out the best selections for this week’s Accumulator tips.

After a week off for the Nations League and international friendlies, the Premier League is back!

The weekend kicks off with a stellar match up in the early 12:30 kick-off on Saturday, with Liverpool travelling to Wembley to meet Spurs.

This was due to be the first game at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but due to delays over security concerns, the game has been moved to Spurs’ temporary home, Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool

Kick-off: 12:30pm (BST) Saturday 15 September 2018

Where to watch live on TV the UK: Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Ultra HD

Venue: Wembley Stadium

Referee: Michael Oliver

Both teams have started the season well with positive results, however Liverpool slightly have the edge in terms performances with 5 wins out of 5, as opposed to 4 out of 5 for Spurs.

Spurs’ positive result at Old Trafford was soon diminished with a poor performance against surprise high-fliers Watford last time round.

However Tottenham’s ‘home’ advantage will likely mean these teams cancel each other out.

The game will likely start out as quite a cagey affair, but we still expect goals, especially in the second half, with both teams having the most threatening strike-forces in the Premier League.

Prediction: 2-2 (Get 11/1 odds on this result at Bwin)

Chelsea v Cardiff City

Kick-off: 15:00pm (BST) Saturday 15 September 2018

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have gotten off to a great start this season under new manager Sarri. The players have adapted to his new attacking style of play really quickly and have looked really impressive against weak teams.

Chelsea will certainly have too much for Cardiff who despite putting up a strong performance against Arsenal last weekend. Neil Warnock’s returning international players will likely get a shock trying to defend the fast one-touch passing of Chelsea.

Expect nothing other than a large win for Chelsea.

Prediction: 3-0 (Get 11/2 odds on this result at Novibet)

Huddersfield v Crystal Palace

Kick-off: 15:00pm (BST) Saturday 15 September 2018

Venue: Kirklees Stadium

Palace manager Roy Hodgson will be glad to welcome back star forward Wilfred Zaha back from injury. Number 9 Cristian Benteke is still struggling to find the net, so a lot will be riding on Zaha in his first game back.

Palace have put in some impressive performances so far this season, however Huddersfield are defensively much stronger at home. Huddersfield will be glad to be playing at home in what will be only their second game at the Kirklees Stadium this season.

Expect Palace to have a lot of possession, but we think they might struggle to find the back of the net away from home.

Prediction: 0-0 (Get 11/2 odds on this result at William Hill)

Man City v Fulham

Kick-off: 15:00pm (BST) Saturday 15 September 2018

Venue: Etihad Stadium

Man City have continued their fine form from last season and continue to create plenty of chances in the final third.

Sergio Aguero is likely to start up front after his impressive goals so far. Aguero seems to be back in favour with the boss, and looks happy, which has shown in his performances.

Fulham have looked strong up front so far, but they’ll likely find City to be too tough a match to get on the scoresheet this time round. At best, they’ll be hoping to return from Manchester with just a narrow defeat.

Prediction: 2-0 (Get 8/1 odds on this result at Betfred)

Southampton v Brighton

Kick-off: 8:00pm (BST) Monday 17 September 2018

Where to watch live on TV the UK: Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Ultra HD

Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium

Referee: Anthony Taylor

Southampton are looking more of a threat up front this season with new signing Danny Ings so far looking to be the bargain signing of the summer.

He looks happy to be back playing regular football and already has two goals to his name.

Brighton have battled hard in games this season and shown strength and determination to come back from behind, claiming an impressive victory against Man United.

It’ll be a close call, but Southampton should have just enough to win with their home advantage.

Prediction: 2-1 (Get 25/1 odds on this result at Bwin)
