Sky Bet EFL Championship predictions

Bolton v Aston Villa

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Friday 19 April 2019

Venue: Macron Stadium, Bolton

Villa really are on one heck of a run and it seems there is always one team who finishes the Championship incredibly strongly, makes the play offs and then goes up. The signs are looking very good for them and 8 straight league wins speaks volumes.

Up against them, in complete contrast, are Bolton who could be relegated by the end of this game; that’s how big the contrast is.

At this stage of the season we can’t see complacency being an issue and although it won’t be easy, it should be a fairly straight forward 3 points for the Villa.

Result prediction: Aston Villa away win (Best odds: 3/8 with Betway)

Correct score prediction: 2-0 (Best odds: 6/1 with Sportingbet)

Preston v Ipswich

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Friday 19 April 2019

Venue: Deepdale Stadium, Preston

This is a tip based on an odd observation. Preston are in no form whatsoever having lost their last 4 games, a run that has seen them go from genuine play off contenders to just 1 point ahead of the bottom half of the table.

However, after their latest defeat, instead of losing their manager Alex Neil to West Brom as was massively expected to happen, they instead announced that he had signed a 3-year deal.

We just feel that this might put an overall feel-good factor back into the club and the terraces for this game. Playing bottom of the league and already relegated Ipswich at home also makes it the perfect fixture in many respects.

Result prediction: Preston home win (Best odds: 6/10 with Coral)

Correct score prediction: 2-0 (Best odds: 7/1 with 888 Sport)

Leeds v Wigan

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Friday 19 April 2019

Where to watch live on TV in the UK: Sky Sports Red Button

Venue: Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds have hit back-to-back wins just at the right time following a minor blip which saw them lose to their direct rivals for automatic promotion, Sheffield United.

In that time, Sheffield United have drawn their last 2 so all of a sudden Leeds have a 3 point cushion and all the momentum.

Wigan are in a real relegation battle but have been picking up some half-decent points lately. However, the vast majority of those points have come at home, and in their 8 away league games this calendar year they have 2 draws and 6 defeats to their name.

We are going with a home win.

Result prediction: Leeds home win (Best odds: 4/11 with BoyleSports)

Correct score prediction: 1-0 (Best odds: 13/2 with Ladbrokes)

Sky Bet EFL League 1 predictions

Accrington Stanley v Luton

Kick-off: 5:30pm (GMT) Saturday 20 April 2019

Where to watch on TV in the UK: Sky Sports Football / Sky Sports Main Event

Venue: Crown Ground, Accrington

It seems a long time ago that Accrington were threatening the top 6 in League One. Whilst they would take survival, and it would be considered a great achievement, the rate in which they are dropping down the table must be alarming as they sit just 4 points clear of the drop zone.

Luton have to bounce back from a league defeat (one that we called here last week we must add) for the first time in 2019. In truth, they should. The defeat might in a strange way be just what they needed given how close things are behind them.

Whilst they are 5 points clear of second placed Barnsley, Barnsley are just 3 points ahead of fifth placed Charlton.  Luton can’t afford any more slip-ups as it may not just cost them the title, but automatic promotion too.

Result prediction: Luton away win (Best odds: 7/10 with Betway)

Correct score prediction: 0-1 (Best odds: 13/2 with SportNation)
