Saturday’s Sky Bet EFL Championship betting tips & predictions

Sheffield Wednesday v Blackburn

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 16 March 2019

Venue: Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield

When Steve Bruce finally took charge at Wednesday, they were not going to get relegated and very unlikely to make the play offs. Fast forward 9 games and they are still unbeaten under Bruce and all of a sudden are just 4 points off the play offs. Quite a run in what is considered the most competitive and tight league in Europe.

Blackburn got a massive win against Wigan in the week which was their first in 8 games. It certainly stopped the rot and in truth has probably made them safe for next season which after promotion is what the doctor ordered. But we fancy Wednesday here.

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday win (Best odds: 21/20 with Betfred)

Saturday’s Sky Bet EFL League 1 betting tips & predictions

Luton v Gillingham

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 16 March 2019

Venue: Kenilworth Road, Luton

Luton are still flying high in league 1 and still have a comfortable gap not just in the automatic promotion places but to Barnsley in 2nd too.

Gillingham have been inconsistent all season and remain just 3 points clear in the relegation zone. After their latest game a damaging home defeat to fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers, a result which saw Rovers leapfrog them in the table, we think a trip to the league leaders will be far too much.

Result prediction: Luton win (Best odds: 4/11 with Boylesports)

Southend v AFC Wimbledon

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 16 March 2019

Venue: Roots Hall, Southend

Tipping a team that are bottom of the league to win away from home, are we crazy I hear you say. Well yes of course we are but there is also some method to our madness.

Southend are on a shocking run of late with just 1 win in their last 12 games and none in their last 9. They also haven’t won at home since new years day!

Wimbledon may be bottom, but it wasn’t too long ago they were well and truly detached from the rest. They are now just 4 points off safety following a run of 4 wins and a draw in their last 6 games. There is no reason why this shouldn’t go to form

Result prediction: AFC Wimbledon win (Best odds: 11/5 with Betfred)

Saturday’s Sky Bet EFL League 2 betting tips & predictions

Oldham v Tranmere

Kick-off: 3:00pm (GMT) Saturday 16 March 2019

Venue: Boundary Park, Oldham

Another tip for a good priced outsider of 2, though in this case its hard to see why Tranmere are the outsiders. Tranmere have won 6 of their last 7 games, a run that has seen them rise to the giddy heights of 5th.

Oldham are not just on a very poor run of form, but have had high profile manager Paul Scholes walk out after just 31 days in charge and 48 hours before this game. Not the best preparation for facing the league’s and indeed country’s form team!

Result prediction: Tranmere win (Best odds: 21/10 with Betway)
